Segway have released some new models of their human transporter recently, but the one of interest to us is the one “designed for off-road”…the Segway XT (Cross Terrain) model.

Some of the finer details of the Segway XT include:

  • It can do a whopping 12.5 mph / 20kmh
  • It can carry 260lbs / 177kgg
  • It can go for 10 miles / 16 km before need to be re-charged (new lithium-ion batteries)
  • You can impress people with its 7 inch “wide” tyres
  • It has a ground clearance of 4.5 inchs / 10cm (i wonder if you can lift it higher???)
  • It just looks so cool :)

Other new models include; the Segway i180 models (available in a new range of “colours” with red, yellow and blue) and the Segway GT which is design for the golfers out there. Availability for the XT and the other new models is April 2005 in the US and Canada but no word on any other market launch dates yet :(

Guess its time for me to ring up the local Australian distributer, Segway Southern Cross, and see what the deal is…

Breaking News: Another dealer has opened up who specialises in Segways in Australia…Urban Transporter. The Segway revolution continues…now…how do i get one of the distributers to give me one…hmmm…
