Explorersweb

If you are into hardcore exploring and expeditioning then the Explorersweb website, which has been around for quite a while, is probably one of the better collections of information around.
It’s actually an umbrella site for a bunch of websites which include the following; MountEverest.net, K2climb.net, TheOceans.net, thepoles.net, PYTHOM.com (space expeditions), HumanEdgeTech.com, AdventureWeather.com, AdventureStats.com and BaseCampMD.com.
I ran across them when I was working on V1.0 of the ExpeditionOz website a few years ago when I found one of their sites, HumanEdgeTech.com, selling these great packages for updating websites or blogs while on expeditions to places like Mt Everest, the North and South Poles, the middle of the ocean and other places where you are unlikely to have internet connectivity.
The packages includes a satellite phone, airtime, a digital camera, a PDA, all cables, all installations, CONTACT software and expedition email all stored inside a fully waterproof Pelican case. It essentially lets you send and receive emails, write and upload dispatches to your website/blog, upload photos and videos, send your position to a map, and trigger email updates all from the supplied PDA.
The sites have such a varied collection of material that they are always worth having a quick scan of every now and then.
